The "Maison des Sires" is one of the most interesting and best preserved buildings in Estavayer-le-Lac. Built in the 14th century, it became the main residence of the older branch of the ruling Estavayer family, after they had abandoned their ancestral seat of Motte-Châtel. Their coat-of-arms can be seen on many of the window headers as well as on the imposing ground-floor window grate. It remained the home of the Lords of Estavayer-le-Lac until 1632.
