Courthouse

The current courthouse building, which was formerly Payerne’s town hall, was built in the second half of the 16th century. It features two decorated rooms which continue to house various local authorities. This imposing building is the joint work of bricklayer-architects François Besson, Pierre Tavel and Claude Galley. You wiII notice a certain similarity between this building, the Rathaus in Berne and the town hall in Fribourg, both of which were tied to Payerne throught a Burgrecht pact of alliance.
