General Jomini statue

One of Payerne’s most famous sons was General Antoine-Henri Jomini (1779-1869), the internationally renowned and respected historian and military strategist. Having served in Napoleon’s army, he became the aide-de-camp to Tsar Alexander I of Russia. The bust of General Jomini is the work of sculptor Raphaël Lugeon and inscribed on the pedestal is a list of the major campaigns in which he fought.
