Rue des Blanchisseuses and porte de Berne

The houses that line the rue des Blanchisseuses (Washerwomen street) follow the outline of Payerne’s former ramparts. Until the 19th century, the main gateway to the town was the “Porte de Berne”, which stood at the junction between the street and this Grand-Rue.
