Bernese castle

Baillival castle, a bailiff’s castle which dates back to 1640, was built on the site of the former monastic buildings. During the former regime, it was the residence of the Bernese governor presiding in the role of bailiff over the neighbouring villages. After the Vaud Revolution, the building served as a boarding school for girls. Today it is used by the town’s public schools.
